They are pretty cool when the room's lights are dim.
They are turned on by a button on the back beneath the screw. They pretty much behave like the backpack - stay lit when the button is pushed. If I hit this button ten times, I am lucky if the lights will stay lit on their own one time. Because of this I am not for sure how the helmet is really supposed to function - stay lit when pushed or after pushed and turned off when pushed again.
I do love the head sculpt and paint job. I dread accidentally damaging it with the helmet removal - thankfully I won't be playing with this much.
The next accessory is a crane. It doesn't do much more than what you see in the picture. It is not the most exciting of accessories.
There is also a flashlight. There is no glass on the bulb and it doesn't light up. It is not a bad accessory but shortly after taking these pictures, the strap broke off the front on mine. I will have to re-glue it.
There is also a pretty cool pistol that fits loosely into a side holster. There are two wires at the bottom of the holster that keep coming out on mine causing the pistol to fall out. I am going to have to glue them in place I think. I am giving this figure a *** 1/2 out of five star rating. It is a cool toy that I was looking forward to a long time. I really, really wanted to give it a ***** review but I can't. I know you could say I was unnecessarily hard on it but it cost me $150 through Sideshow. At that price point I expect more quality than I would on a $80 figure or a $50 figure or what have you. When you are getting something from a company like Hot Toys, you expect a higher standard and I am not for sure if I got it here. I am still overall happy with it but there are some things that really bother me about it. I just expected more out of it.
